8th April marked my last day in this company. With colleague humming auld lang syne as he walked past my table, with colleagues recalling how shocked they were when they first saw me a tattoo and thought I was an ah lian, with colleagues understanding how difficult it had been to make this decision when feelings had developed, with external parties who called just to say goodbye again and some even celebrated tog, with overseas colleagues who couldn't believe I was leaving when some just got to know one another better, I believe I did not waste my 2.5 years. I was really glad when they said they really like working with me (not that patronizing kind). I also recognized that they had given me their full cooperation/support and some even went for the extra mile. My farewell started 2 weeks ago. I had farewell meals with various departments 2 weeks ago - regional, accounts, management, sales, suppliers, logistics. I celebrated my farewell 7 times and some of my ex colleague came back to have the meals together. The last day started with me completing my last report (closed the FY) and had a mini morning celebration with the sales & marketing dept at the conference room. As I stepped into the room, the whiteboard wrote, "Farewell to SK". My 2 bosses made their speeches before I did. They presented the farewell card, red packet, AB bag and card holder to me. I made an official goodbye to them cos they normally leave the office before 12. For lunch, the management team (7 of us) treated me to somerset 313's tampopo. Yummy black pig ramen and afterwhich, we had marvelous cream for dessert! After lunch, I had the exit interview with my GM. Both of us had went great length discussing about my resignation. Hence, the exit interview was brief but more filled laughters and suan-ing each other. I gave some presents to my colleagues to express my appreciation. I went to each of their table for hugs and said goodbye. My boss gave me the testimony I wanted. The farewell emails that I sent out in the morning to those ain't around receive replies filled with wishes, appreciations and some surprise elements. I put my perpetual out of office email at the end of the work day. I said goodbye the cleaner aunties and the security guards. However, the day had not end. Some of us went beers and TY sent me home with e 2 boxes of barangs barangs. Tired. I am looking forward to start the new path but before that, its genting in another 5 hrs' time!!
